Temptation
Bible study on temptation.

Jas. 1:12-15

God does not tempt anyone; we are tempted when we are drawn away by our own desires and enticed.

Also, see LUST AND LICENTIOUSNESS.

2 Pet. 2:9

The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations.

1 Cor. 10:13

God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear; God provides a way of escape from every temptation.

Matt. 4:4, 7, 10

Jesus is our example. He used Scripture to overcome temptation (cf. Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 1:18; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).

1 Tim. 6:9

Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation.

Matt. 6:13

We should pray that we are not tempted.

Eph. 6:10-18

We must put on the whole armor of God to withstand temptation (truth, righteousness, gospel of peace, faith, salvation, word of God, and prayer).

1 Cor. 8:9-13

We should not place temptation (i.e., a stumbling block) before our brethren concerning matters of liberty (cf. Rom. 14:1-15:6).

Heb. 2:18; 4:15

Christ was tempted in all points as we are tempted. Therefore, He can aid those who are tempted.
